As part of the 2025 Shanghai Amateur Games, the Yangtze River Delta Kayak Water Marathon is scheduled to take place on Chongming Island, promising a weekend full of activities and community energy. Coinciding with the event, a water marathon carnival will run from Aug 23 to 24 at the M515 Arts Centre in Miaozhen town, offering visitors a range of engaging experiences.

Highlights

From cheering on marathon participants to enjoying a refreshing escape from the summer heat, the carnival features five themed areas, each designed to offer unique experiences.

1. Gourmet and goods market area

This area presents a selection of local Chongming delicacies and refreshing beverages, giving visitors a taste of the region's culinary offerings. Guests can also explore cultural creations, including handmade accessories and Chongming-themed products, making it an ideal spot for memorable souvenirs.

2. Stage performance area

Each evening, top local singers and art groups will take the stage. Attendees can enjoy the music or dance along, finding a pace that suits their mood.

3. Fun water splash area

Visitors can join in water games and activities, perfect for families and friends seeking playful competition. The area offers a chance to cool off and enjoy interactive fun.

4. Water sports experience area.

For those interested in trying water sports, paddleboarding and other activities are available, combining exercise with the chance to take in the scenic shoreline.

5. Camping area

Attendees can set up tents in a designated area, taking part in daytime activities before returning to a cozy spot for relaxation. Evenings are enhanced with music from the stage, creating a seamless flow of enjoyment from day to night.
