Summer school for pupils of 2019 opened in Chongming District recently. More than 150 pupils from Jiangfan Primary School attended their first summer school in 6 classes.

Pupils had a Go lesson under the instructions of teacher, who explained the rules of Go for them. Pupils were interested in playing Go and they concentrated in playing it. On a handwork lesson, the teacher taught pupils how to sort waste and make “treasures” with recyclable waste. On a revolutionary education lesson, the teacher told the story of the little hero, Wang Erxiao, and pupils listened to the story with attention.

According to Shi Qianwen, a teacher of Jiangfan Primary School, this year, lessons in the summer school belong to three categories: lessons about revolutionary education and China Flower Expo, lessons of creative handworks and lessons delivered from Shanghai, Chongming District and third parties, e.g. lesson of making paper plane and Go lesson.

This year, Chongming District offers 40 summer schools for pupils in 11 schools of Chengqiao Town, Miao Town, Baozhen Town and Zhongxing Town. The number of supervisor and volunteer also increased this year. Chongming began to offer summer school to pupils since 2014. So far, more than 8,200 pupils attended the summer school, and realized good social effects.
