A landscape painting exhibition, titled “Salute! My Great Country”, opened in the district library recently. This exhibition is sponsored by the district elderly education working group office.

More than 70 landscape paintings were displayed on the exhibition. They were created by senior citizens from universities and schools for the elderly in various towns. Most artists have the same age with the People’s Republic of China, and witnessed the process of construction for the nation, reform and opening-up, and revitalization of China. These artists used passionate painting brushes and described the beautiful landscape of China and their love for the country in their paintings. From these paintings, we can see the profound cultural deposits and artistic accomplishments of senior citizens.

In recent years, to enrich senior citizen’s spiritual and cultural life, Chongming University for the Elderly and schools for the elderly in various towns, under the guidance of the district elderly education working group office and the district community college, actively explored resources for artistic education. A lot of senior citizens learned arts in university for the elderly and made wonderful achievements in arts.

This exhibition is a review for the achievements made by Chongming District in artistic education for the elderly. It’s also a gift from senior citizens for the 70^th anniversary for the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The art works of senior citizens will be displayed in various towns in Chongming District.
