On the occasion of the 69th International Day of the Deaf, the Chongming District Disabled Persons' Federation, in collaboration with the District Association of the Deaf, organized a themed event at Dongping National Forest Park, providing a platform for people with hearing disabilities to immerse themselves in nature, enjoy fitness, and engage in social interaction.
At the jungle live-fire shooting range in the Crape Myrtle Garden of Dongping National Forest Park, more than 20 people with hearing disabilities took turns experiencing the fixed-target shooting event in an orderly manner. Staff provided patient one-on-one guidance. Everyone watched and learned attentively, and many, full of enthusiasm, achieved high scores on their very first try.
"This is my first time participating in an outdoor shooting activity like this. I averaged nine rings—I'm really happy!" said a participant surnamed Yuan, his face beaming with joy.
On the spacious lawn of Dongping National Forest Park, participants also took turns trying activities such as frisbee, pitch-pot, and ball juggling. During the experience, they either exchanged tips and shared thoughts through sign language, or held their breath and focused intently on their throws. A warm and joyful atmosphere lingered across the entire lawn.
"I participate in the International Day of the Deaf activities every year. Here, I can enjoy the natural scenery, relax both body and mind, and also meet many like-minded friends. I'm very happy," said a female participant surnamed Gu.
In recent years, the District Disabled Persons' Federation has successively led people with disabilities in the district to participate in various municipal and national cultural and sports programs, and has continuously organized a number of competitions and activities suitable for people with disabilities, encouraging them to step out of their homes and integrate into society. While enjoying a healthy lifestyle, these activities also bring joy and happiness to their body and mind.
