The first Chongming District Youth E-Commerce Livestreaming Competition, themed "Youth Cultivating Chongming · Digital Commerce Boosting Agriculture," kicked off recently. Six teams and 14 young livestreamers competed on the same stage, using cameras as bridges and livestreaming as a medium to bring Chongming's high-quality agricultural specialties to the "cloud," injecting vibrant youthful energy into rural revitalization.
A fierce 15-minute competition was underway in the "Chongming Good Taste" livestreaming room. Facing the camera, contestants were calm, confident, and full of witty remarks. Local specialty agricultural products such as Cuiguan pears, grapes, golden melons, and Chongming rice cakes won countless fans through their vivid and passionate promotions. From sales pitch skills and pacing control to on-the-spot adaptability, contestants showcased their strengths and fully demonstrated the spirited and energetic image of Chongming's young e-commerce talent. After intense competition, the event evaluated participants based on dimensions such as average online viewing duration per person, number of livestream transaction orders, and on-camera expressiveness, awarding three honors: "Best Popularity Award," "Best Sales Award," and "Best Presence Award." Though the competition had winners and losers, every contestant gained growth through real combat experience.
"This is my first time participating in a livestreaming competition. From training to actual competition, I truly experienced the challenges and value of livestreaming to help farmers," one participating youth said. Another contestant said, "During the training camp, teachers helped us polish our sales pitches and guided our practical operations. From script writing to on-camera performance, every step was rehearsed repeatedly, giving us more confidence when we stepped onto the stage."
The competition adopted a dual-phase model of "training camp + competition," jointly hosted by the CPC District Committee’s Social Work Department, the District Economic Commission, the District Federation of Trade Unions, the Communist Youth League District Committee, and the Gangxi Town People's Government. During the training phase, participating youth formed teams to study e-commerce professional knowledge, write livestreaming scripts, and conduct simulated pre-broadcasts. Mentors provided one-on-one guidance, from polishing sales pitches to practical process operations, helping contestants transform theory into practical skills and laying a solid foundation for the formal competition.
During the competition, Song Ying, a temporary cadre from Lincang, Yunnan Province, served as a tourism ambassador and promoted three distinctive tourism routes: tea-origin roots exploration, indigenous culture, and border-pass discovery, allowing Chongming audiences to experience distant mountain charm without leaving home and building a cloud-based exchange bridge for Shanghai-Yunnan collaboration. A special promotion of the "One Ridge of Land" project presented by representatives of Miaozhen Huahong Yongle Company allowed the audience to appreciate the unique charm of Chongming's ecological agriculture and broadened income-generating paths for rural collective economies.
This competition was not only a contest of skills but also an important initiative by the Communist Youth League District Committee to discover and cultivate local youth e-commerce talent. From training to actual competition, contestants grew rapidly, both broadening sales channels for Chongming's agricultural products and injecting fresh blood into rural industrial revitalization. In the future, the Communist Youth League District Committee will continue to deeply tap into local youth e-commerce forces, cultivate more daring and capable young livestreamers, and guide young people to tell Chongming's stories well and promote Chongming's quality products, letting youth shine brightly on the track of rural revitalization.
