The “Bank of Shanghai” 2026 Shanghai Table Tennis Carnival Roadshow Caravan has arrived at Chongming Wanda Plaza on July 5. As the final stop of the city-wide tour, the event offered residents the chance to experience the appeal of table tennis up close through fun interactive activities and live broadcasts of matches.

 　　On the morning of July 5, outside the Chongming Wanda Plaza, a brightly coloured table tennis carnival caravan drew many members of the public to stop and take a look. The venue featured a carnival games area and a spectator area, allowing visitors to browse and play whilst experiencing the fun of table tennis through light-hearted interactions.

 　　In front of the smart ball machine, table tennis balls were fired out one after another, whilst participants stood at the table swinging their bats to return them. Faced with balls coming at different speeds and angles, many members of the public went from being flustered at first to gradually finding their rhythm, with cheers of encouragement ringing out from time to time.

　　“I learnt table tennis from my dad. My favourite part of today’s carnival is the ball machine, it helps me practise my basic skills,” said one participant.

　　Aside from taking to the table to swing their bats, other activities in the carnival’s gaming area also showcased creative ways to play table tennis. Activities such as mini-table tennis, chopstick-gripping table tennis, fun ball juggling and the table tennis maze were lined up in sequence, incorporating speed, accuracy, reaction time and coordination into these mini-games, allowing participants to experience the fun of table tennis as they tackled each challenge.

 　　“There were so many activities in the carnival’s amusement area and I tried every single one: they were all great fun. What impressed me most was the mini table tennis—it was really enjoyable,” said one participant.

　　A stamp-collecting activity was also organised on site. A small stamp map linked the entire event venue together, allowing members of the public to deepen their understanding of table tennis through interactive experiences.

　　In the afternoon, the Shanghai Table Tennis Carnival Mixed Team Champions League saw Chongming host Songjiang, with the caravan setting up a “second venue” to broadcast the match live. During the match, the Chongming Riding the Wind and Waves team and the Songjiang Rongcheng Warriors produced several thrilling rallies during prolonged rallies and crucial points.

 　　In the viewing area, members of the public sat in front of a large screen watching the live broadcast of the match, following the action alongside the commentary, and cheering on the Chongming team through activities such as competition predictions and interactive cheering sessions.

　　Chen Ling, Director of Market Planning at Migu Video Technology Co Ltd, explained that the event had been deliberately moved from the district sports centre to Chongming Wanda Plaza to allow more spectators to participate and enjoy the experience. “At our mobile event venue, visitors can watch the live broadcast of the match taking place inside the sports centre. The commentaries also managed to incorporate elements of Chongming’s unique local customs and traditions.”
