The Chongming District celebration of International Children’s Day, which also served as a featured youth sci-tech education event of Shanghai Science Festival, was recently held at the District Youth Activity Center. More than 400 teachers and students from across the district gathered to sing, dance and explore science and technology, celebrating the holiday through a variety of activities and displaying the vibrant spirit of Chongming’s young generation.

　　Inside the venue, a splendid arts performance was staged, divided into three chapters: “Red Genes,” “Cultural Roots,” and “Sci-Tech Future.” Poetry recitals, military-style exercise performances, and special micro-team classes were presented in turn, vividly passing on the revolutionary spirit and demonstrating the deep patriotism of the young generation. Local cultural performances such as Jiangnan Sizhu music, Chongming nursery rhymes, and farming tableaux brought the charm of traditional culture to children’s hearts. A lively and fun science-themed skit vividly showcased the students’ curiosity, diligence, and scientific creativity.

　　At the event, commemorative certificates were awarded to individual representatives, Young Red Scarf Guides, and Yingzhou Sci-Tech Youth of the “Five Education” achievement exchange showcase, setting role models and encouraging young people to develop in an all-round moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor education. Meanwhile, the Chongming featured youth sci-tech education event of Shanghai Science Festival was launched. Following the main theme of “Better Life through Science & Technology” and based on Chongming’s local characteristics, the event created an innovative “ecology + sci-tech” model.

　　Outside the main hall, heartwarming and brilliant activities also took place. A charity bazaar under the theme “Chongming Heart, Neighbourly Love” was held, with children enthusiastically taking part, donating their love and warming the hearts of their peers far away with small acts of kindness. At the sci-tech innovation exhibition area, a dazzling array of creative works attracted teachers and students, allowing them to experience the charm of science up close.

　　The event integrated moral education, culture, sci-tech innovation and public welfare, enriching children’s festival life and empowering their growth, allowing childlike innocence to blossom under the nourishment of culture and science.
