How can an abandoned old house be transformed to regain vitality and generate new value? Recently, at the West Coast Oxygen Bar scenic area in Miaozhen Town, a cultural and artistic space converted from old, unused houses opened. Once-idle rural homes, through creative design, have been turned into a cultural hotspot integrating handicraft experiences, reading and tea tasting, and art exhibitions, offering citizens and tourists a new leisure option that blends humanity with nature.

Stepping into the "Zizaidi" (Carefree Place) cultural space, one is greeted by a simple and elegant atmosphere. The entire space features a natural, rustic style, where elements such as raw wood, books, and greenery complement each other, seamlessly blending with the ecological environment of the West Coast Oxygen Bar.

The space's curator, Shi Cheng, told reporters that the name "Zizaidi" is intended to encourage every visitor to return to their true self and relax fully. He hopes visitors can set aside their busy lives here and freely do what they love.

Currently, "Zizaidi" is divided into several areas according to different functions, catering to the diverse leisure needs of visitors. In the handicraft area, visitors make spring flower bookmarks under the guidance of the curator. In the lounge and recreation areas, visitors sit casually, savor tea snacks made from local ingredients, browse books, and listen to vinyl records, enjoying moments of tranquility in the slow pace of life. "Here we can do crafts. These wildflowers were all picked from the fields. It feels very close to nature," said one visitor.

Beyond the rich experiences, "Zizaidi" also showcases creative and eco-friendly touches throughout. The space displays multiple paintings inspired by Chongming's pastoral landscapes, as well as handicrafts transformed from abandoned old objects: plain linen fabric turned into artistic coasters—both beautiful and practical; broken porcelain pieces artistically repurposed into unique phone stands.

Curator Shi Cheng said that "Zizaidi" adheres to the philosophy of natural recycling and giving new life to old things, allowing natural products of heaven and earth and rural idle resources to radiate vitality. This approach preserves the warmth of time while endowing them with brand-new value.

In the future, "Zizaidi" will continue to incorporate more cultural and artistic elements, unlocking diverse experiences and providing citizens and tourists with more wonderful places to get close to nature and experience art and culture.
