The 2023 Women's Tour of Chongming Island, held from October 12 to 14, is the only women's multi-day race in China this year. It is also a qualifying race for the 2024 Paris Olympics.The organizing committee has confirmed 18 teams from around the world based on their ranks and competitive levels, all of which are world-leading teams, including 7 world teams, 9 continental ones, the China National Team, and the Hong Kong Team. The total number of participants is 108 from 13 countries and regions in Europe, America, Oceania and Asia.

The total mileage of the three-day competition is 349.8 kilometers. According to the schedule, the first section (West Chongming) competition will be held on the 12th, starting from Xincheng Park and passing through the Lotus Expo Park and Mingzhu Lake Park, with a total distance of 108.9 kilometers. The second section (East Chongming) race will be held on the 13th, starting from the Changxing Island Country Park, passing through the Yangtze River Bridge, Dongtan Avenue, and Shanghai Chongming Sports Training Base, before returning to Xincheng Park, with a distance of 128.6 kilometers. The third section (Middle Chongming) competition or the circuit race) will be held on the 14th, starting from Xincheng Park and entering Xinhe Town along Chongming Avenue, and then returning to the central area for a circuit race, with a total distance of 112.3 kilometers. The route covers the main roads of 17 towns and villages in Chongming and the Yangtze River Bridge. During the competition, the participants can feel the charm of the world-class ecological island.

Cycling is an eco-friendly, low-carbon, green and fashionable sport, well suiting the natural environment of Chongming as an ecological island. In 2003, Chongming organized the National Road Cycling Elite Tournament, which is the beginning of its wonderful ties with cycling. In the past 20 years, Chongming has achieved better results and won international recognition though continuous optimization of the layout of cycling resources, forming a distinctive and influential brand of cycling.

It is worth mentioning that this year, a bicycle carnival themed "Ride for Beauty, Relax in Chongming" will be held during the competition. The event will feature cycling culture, themed exhibits, food, and goodies. A series of activities with the theme of "watching the competition and touring Chongming" will be held for the public to experience the charm and fun of cycling.
