In the past, Chongming residents had to go to hospitals or community health centers to see Chinese medicine doctors. Now, people have a more convenient choice as the village clinic with Chinese medicines is open.

As projects serving the residents, Dongfeng Xincun Community Station affiliated with Dongping Town Community Health Center, and Yugang Jiayuan Community Station affiliated with Changxing Town Community Health Center were open to the public in 2022. The shortlisted Hengsha Township Clinic was unveiled on September 5, the first village clinic in Chongming to feature traditional Chinese medicine treatment.

The clinic covers two village committees and serves more than 2,000 villagers in the area, most of whom are elderly. To meet the needs of the people for traditional Chinese medicine services, the clinic was transformed this year following the city's standards for the construction of traditional Chinese medicine demonstration health stations or village clinics. There are currently three TCM doctors and one rehabilitation technician, who gives treatment for 5 half-days every week.

The clinic has been upgraded and rebuilt with Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment devices such as a red light moxibustion therapy instrument and a multi-functional traction bed. There are expert rooms, Chinese medicine rooms, and a Chinese medicine treatment area to provide acupuncture and massage, rehabilitation physiotherapy, preventive treatment of disease, and other services.

At the same time, the clinic sets up a Chinese medicine cultural corner, providing intelligent self-service service, and displaying Chinese medicine and its culture, so that the people can understand Chinese medicine and feel the charm of the culture in an all-round way.
