Recently, Baoyige'er Ecological Postpartum Center, the first of its kind at the medical level in China, officially opened in Chongming.

The center is located in Jianshe Town Ruiyinkang Agricultural Culture and Tourism Base, with a total construction area of over 5,000 square meters, and can accommodate 36 mothers at the same time. It is learned that the center is the first of its kind with an ecological concept in China. Its proposed 3S maternity health service standards from the three aspects of "ecological standards, health standards, and living standards", which upgrade the "postpartum confinement" from traditional life care and physical rehabilitation services to meeting the needs of ecological diet and cultural and social networking at the same time.

The center focuses on maternal and infant care, with a medical team and a maternal and infant care team boasting rich experience. It provides scientific guidance and assistance for the postpartum physical recovery of the mothers and the healthy growth of the babies.

“We have a service team consisting of a specialist nurse, an obstetrician, and a responsible nurse for each mother. Experienced licensed obstetricians and pediatricians will conduct regular rounds every week to ensure that the mother and her baby receive comprehensive, thoughtful, and professional services," said Fang Chang, executive director of the center.

In addition, the center has strict standards for the preparation of confinement meals. The Ruiyin Ecological Farm, covering an area of over 1,000 mu, provides the freshest green organic ingredients of the season for the center. Senior dietitians will provide exclusive nutritious meals to meet the basic needs of the mothers in the following four aspects: balanced nutrition, moderate calories, health care, and scientific supplement.

“Surrounded by forest and fresh air, the environment of the center is very good. I value confinement meals, and the farms around here can provide organic crops, which are more nutritious and helpful for physical recovery," said Chen Jia, a mother who came from the city to attend the opening ceremony.

"The medical staff here are quite professional, and the three-person service team is very reassuring. Chongming is far from the hustle and bustle of the urban area, and a quiet environment is helpful for my postpartum recovery,” said another mother, who is more concerned about care services for mothers and infants.

What’s more, to enrich the life of the mothers during their confinement period, the center regularly organizes handicrafts, tea art, flower art, and other courses.

Fang Chang said that in the future, the center will launch childcare services for babies who are 3 months to 3 years.
