Improving the recycling level of waste plastics is an effective way to solve plastic pollution. In recent years, Chongming has explored to establish a recycling system for recyclable domestic waste to promote the utilization and disposal of waste plastics, so as to achieve energy conservation and emission reduction.

"In addition to the separation of dry and wet waste, our community has special recycling bins for plastic bottles, cardboard and glass bottles", Aunt Gong said. The residents in the community have already formed the good habit of garbage classification. Meanwhile, the community guides residents to classify plastic garbage through publicity to facilitate recycling.

It is learnt that the garbage collector there will regularly transport the recyclable garbage such as waste plastics from residents to the "two-networks integration" recycling service station in the community. Every week, the recycling truck from the "two-networks integration" transfer station in Chenjia Town goes to the community for plastic waste recycling, and then the recyclable garbage is transported to the site for disposal and utilization.

"The detergent bottle and shampoo bottle can be turned into plastic fiber board after disposal, and the mineral water bottle can be made into some materials for sportswear. Over 99% recycled garbage can be used", said an official of the "two networks integration" transfer station of Chenjia Town.

At present, there is one town-level "two-networks integration" transit station and 55 village-level recycling service stations in Chenjia Town. The "two-networks integration" transfer station recycles wastes from every recycling stations.

"The recycling system can promote the recycling of waste plastic resources while improving the residents' environmental awareness", said an official of the ecological protection and city appearance and environment office of Chenjia Town. Next, they will further refine the garbage classification measures and improve the classification standards and the recycling rate.
